Morgan Field is an accountant. However, today she is acting as an executor, delivering a will and final assets to a beneficiary she never knew existed. Finding out the man has no phone and she must hike into the woods to his home does not make her happy.
Joshua Lansing is the beneficiary of Morgan’s friend Frank's will. He has a house in the woods, no phone and no electricity according to the cashier clerk. He is Frank's son and he is shocked to find out his father is dead.
Morgan is quite attracted to Joshua; she thinks he’s a beautiful man. Though, because of the situation, she will not take advantage of him. Later that day, after convincing Morgan to stay the night with him, Joshua looks at her with longing in his eyes, yet doesn’t follow through by advancing to her. Each has their secrets, but will desire overcome his reluctance to make a move on her?
Ms. Mason did very well with CAT'S CLAWS. It was very rich with emotions only a death of a loved one can bring. There is a quality to this story that I can't put my fingers on the right word for, other than to say it touches my very soul. I really enjoyed this story. It was well written, fluidly paced, and had that rare magic that I love to find. It drew me into the story and pulled long forgotten memories.
