I have covers

Yup, brilliant new covers for two of my upcoming releases from eXtasy. And wow are they gorgeous. Check em out folks and drool all you want.

The first is for a naughty story called Pink Ribbon. Now, you look at this and can right away determine this fellow is caged. Yum. He's also kneeling. More yum. But what's he kneeling to and where's that pink ribbon come in? Well, I'm afraid I'm not going to share that with you. You're going to have to wait, just for a little longer. This book is due to come out in June, so you'll be fine. Honest.

Isn't he gorgeous? I mean, when I found this waiting in my email, I about fell off my chair. Yup, he's all mine. (just to look at, or so I've been told)

Next is this one. Oh my! Two guys is hot. Three is beyond hot, it's scorching. Add that cougar and you've got something very special. Now, the amazing Martine Jardin and I talked about this one. The original story was much shorter and involved a woman. We decided that to mix m/f and m/m/f might not be such a good idea. So, while the book has been accepted, it's going to be a while before it's actually completed. But, trust me, it's going to be scorching.

Where does this cougar come in, you might ask? Well, I could tell you, but then you'd know and seeing as I'm not quite finished creating this one, it also might change some. So, again, patience you lovely people. I'm sure you're going to love the finished product, and so are Samuel, Jack and Clint...and the big puss.

Welcome Tanith Davenport

You're going to love digging into this interview. Tanith is a girl after my own heart. She's a Freddie Prince fan and also writes for Total E-Bound. Want to know more? Well, read on and enjoy!

1.  What influenced you to get published? How long did it take? Can you tell us the name of your first published work?
While I had always wanted to be a writer, it was the approach of my thirtieth birthday that inspired me to get myself in gear and finish my novel. I had been working on “The Hand He Dealt” for three years at that point; I joined the Romantic Novelists’ Association under the New Writers’ Scheme and sent it off for critique. After receiving their very encouraging response, I did a partial rewrite and started submitting it to epublishers. Three months later I was accepted by Total-e-Bound, and am still pinching myself in case I wake up!

2. What genre would you like to try that you haven’t yet?
I’d like to try contemporary women’s fiction. I have a few ideas I’ve been throwing around, but for now those are on the back burner while I concentrate on erotica.

3.  Most people envision an author’s life as being really glamorous. What’s your take on this? Can you tell us something unglamorous you did within the last week or so?
Broke my front tooth on a french fry. I still haven’t quite worked out how I did that.

4. Plotter or pantzer?
A little of both! I like to have a number of plot hooks that I can work towards, but what happens in between can come as a complete surprise. “The Hand He Dealt” went through five story plans in its first draft alone, and then had an entire plot thread removed following the RNA’s critique.

5.  What do you do when you’re suffering writers block?
Write a few lines outlining what I want to happen in the rest of the chapter, then pick up my Kindle and see how other writers do it. I’m a great believer in learning from the masters.

6.  What would you like to share with new writers? Any suggestions or advice?
I’m such a new writer myself I’m not sure I’m qualified, but probably it would be to get as much guidance as you can and not to give up. The guidance I got from the RNA, the Writers’ Workshop and sites like BubbleCow were invaluable.

7. If you could be a character in any of your books who would it be and why?
Astra Scott of “The Hand He Dealt”. She gets to have fun with two gorgeous men and her cute best friend – what’s not to love there?

8. Looking over the past year, what has been the best moment for you in your writing career?
Having my first novel accepted! I received the email while on my way out to dinner with my husband and celebrated with rather a lot of champagne cocktails, something I also intend to do on my release date.

9. What do you enjoy doing with your spare time, your non-writing time?
I’m a great lover of new experiences of any kind, be they a new restaurant (I’ve just discovered Russian cuisine) or a bungee jump. I could keep Red Letter Days in business single-handed. On my less adventurous days I’m a classically-trained singer and also love going to the cinema.

10. If you could invite any famous person, dead or alive, for dinner, who would it be and what would you eat?
The one person I would have loved to have met is Freddie Mercury; Queen will always be my favourite rock band. He always struck me as being open to new experiences, so I’d order in from a local Vietnamese restaurant and we could try the whole menu.

11.  If you could choose one vice, what would it be and why?
Coffee. I don’t like it, but I would love to be able to walk into Starbucks and be able to experience the wonders of gingerbread lattes and egg nog macchiato instead of being restricted to hot chocolate.

12.  What are you working on now? Can you tell us a little about it?
I’m currently working on two novels, both erotic romances.

The first, “Photograph”, is more mainstream than “The Hand He Dealt” and deals with a very tightly-wound heroine whose personal need for control has not only destroyed her relationship with her twin sister but has left her virtually unable to relate to men outside of sex; this is about to change as she is thrown together on a cruise ship with her sister and a deliciously arrogant American named Ryan. The second, “Hyperventilating”, is still in its early stages but is giving me a chance to go a little darker with my kink and also allows me to indulge my weakness for rock stars!

13. What kind of comfort food do you like best?
I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, so my weakness is takeaways. Present me with a special fried rice or a meat feast pizza and you’ll have a friend for life.

14.  What do you hope to achieve in life and when will you know that you have been a success?
I have constantly shifting targets in my life – as soon as I achieve one I have to look ahead to the next. Right now being published is my goal, but following that, mastering a second novel and maybe getting a book into print.

Astra Scott likes to live life to the full. A sorority girl and Gaming Management student, she spends her days studying and practising guitar, and her nights partying or working at the Fountain Casino, where she has an internship as part of her final semester. The only blot on her landscape is Ash Drake, her best friend Sasha’s boyfriend. Arrogant, physical and blond, Ash has never forgiven Astra for her rejection months earlier and enjoys annoying her at every turn.

But when Astra’s boyfriend Harry reveals a shocking secret, Astra responds in the only way she can think of: by finding a way to take on a more attractive, masculine role in the relationship. Her experimentation with sex toys finds a surprising outlet in Sasha, but when Ash discovers their secret and wants to get involved, Astra finds herself torn between dislike and desire… and as their undercover relationship grows, Astra finds herself falling in love, a path she feels can only end in heartbreak. For Ash may be the only man whose own fantasies are a match for hers, but can she knowingly steal his affections from her best friend?

 EXCERPT:

Two hours later, and Astra stood in front of her bedroom mirror, holding in one hand the toy she had bought from Amy’s Delights.

Rubber underwear was laced through her fingers, a small plastic remote control dangling below on the end of a long cord. And attached to the front—

Well.

It was a strap-on.

It was a strap-on dildo.

And it was purple.

A purple length of shiny plastic. A perfect simulacrum of a veined, circumcised penis, five inches long and of a thickness Astra considered average, just the right width to wrap a hand around.

She stared at her reflection for a long time, contemplating the dildo, before slowly drawing it back towards her body, holding it against her stomach.

No.

One foot through the straps, two feet…rubber caught against denim-clad legs, but after a moment’s struggle the strap-on dildo was in place, and Astra’s image stood in front of her, the purple dick jutting out in front like the hilt of a sword.

Slowly she rotated her hips, watching the dildo glide from side to side, before stopping abruptly with a giggle.

Shit. It looks like a fucking light sabre.

Watching herself in the mirror, she closed one hand around its length, giving it a tentative stroke.

Nothing. Unsurprisingly.

She tried it again, this time holding the remote control and flicking the switch. A sudden buzzing, accompanied by a muted vibration through her jeans, made her jolt sharply.
Interesting.

Flipping the switch again, she rocked her hips slowly, her eyes glazing. In her mind formed a picture of Harry’s smooth back and bare buttocks, thighs parting to receive her, Harry’s voice gasping, begging for more, more, please, more…

Oh.

The switch snapped off.

Astra eyed herself coolly, squaring her shoulders, her legs automatically widening into a masculine stance.

Phew, was that hot or what? OMG

Welcome Annette Shelley

I'd like you all to give a warm welcome to a new friend of mine, Annette Shelley. She's one very busy lady and incredibly interesting, funny and fascinating.I'm sure you'll love meeting her too!

Welcome Annette!

1. How long have you been writing? What inspired you to pick the pen up one day and create characters that capture the imagination?
For over twenty five years (YIKES!) I’ve been writing, starting with yearbook and school newspapers back in junior high. Then I worked as a college newspaper editor-in-chief, a layout artist for The Charlotte Observer, magazines, radio, television…

I always wanted to write fiction, but was busy with life - you know how that goes - up until 2005. It all began when went on a cruise to Mexico. I was laying around drinking margaritas, sunbathing and started having a little movie playing in my mind about a guy in the casino on a ship. I’d never seen this guy before and had no idea what it meant, but because I was relaxing, I ignored it. The movie kept popping in my mind for several days, and once I realized it wasn’t going away, I decided to write it down and it became my very first novel of 100K!

That one was called Deep Currency about my Mexican born homicide detective Mario Martinez who solved a murder on the high seas. That book will FINALLY be coming out later this year from Red Rose Publishing.

2. What influenced you to get published? How long did it take? Can you tell us the name of your first published work?
Despite my interest in fiction, I never pursued it. I was busy with my other career which has been all consuming and after a particularly hectic travel schedule in 2006, I had it and decided life is short and finally decided at the end of that year to devote my full attention to fiction because I had a lot of new ideas floating around my head. I spent early 2007 winding down my other business and by summer of 2007, I started writing full time. Once I had some material finished, I began submitting and sold my first novella series Famliar: End of Eternity about a sexy group of cursed cat shifters to Red Rose Publishing by the end of 2007.

The big influence to want to get published was the fact that I had to save face. I literally had been traveling around the world lecturing up to that point and once I decided to write full time, I literally canceled a lot of my speaking engagements and cut off known sources of income, bought a new house and sat down to write. To those who thought I had lost my proverbial marbles, I had to show them that somebody wanted my work.

3. Most people envision an author’s life as being really glamorous. What’s your take on this? Can you tell us something unglamorous you did within the last week or so?
Oh yes, of course! (insert uppity British accent here!) Funny stuff, Jude! Yes, my life is one glamorous episode after the next! LOL!

I think folks like to romanticize the writer’s life as one of fluffing around in a robe (which I do), commanding servants to your beckon call (which I wish I did) and eating bon bons all day (I do consume chocolate, yes) Hey! Maybe my life really is glamorous! I need to take time to smell the roses!!! LOL

I must say, I do enjoy sitting around in my jammies eating chocolate! I do that, and I have been known to “fluff around” in my bed, writing steamy novels under a pile of blankets. The truth is though, that despite these few and far between moments, much of the novelist’s life is spent staring at a screen, working odd hours and locked down in more concentrated effort than I’ve ever spent at anything in my life. I do love it though! There is no other profession I’ve found as simultaneously fascinating and frustrating. Fascinating because in fiction you can be who you want and live in any world of your choosing. Frustrating because I am still wondering what it is the publishers out there want. I feel very blessed to have a few houses, especially eXtasy Books, who are keen on publishing everything I write.

Non-glamorous events are plenty. Today I had to take out the trash, clean the cat litter and…yes, I’m afraid…do the laundry! Where was my hunky manservant when I needed him? Ah…I hope to aspire to that one day! The journey continues…

4. Plotter or pantzer?
Pantzer all the way. I am writing first to entertain myself so it’s important for me to have only a vague idea where I’m going, but not divulge too much about my plot in advance because that is what entertains me. It’s like I am reading it while I am writing it, if that makes sense. It’s quite self-centered! LOL

A long time ago, I read Stephen King’s book On Writing, which I believe has some awesome tips in it. He basically said the same thing about why he writes. He has what he calls one ‘ideal reader,’ who in his case is his wife, Tabitha. He writes for her first, him second. If she laughs and loves it, he knows he is on the right track. I’ve tried to follow that advice. I have a couple readers/friends who are my ideals. The fact is you can’t make everybody happy in this world. (Darn!) Fiction is so subjective, you must enjoy it, which I truly try to do.

5. What do you do when you’re suffering writers block?
Go to the gym, the lake park near my house, go see a movie…or CLEAN! Cleaning really clears out my mind, for some reason. I went to a super Romance Writers of America lecture about this where the woman said that the process of stacking clutter up then cleaning it is some representation of the inner workings of the mind. I know it’s true for me. I have some process I go through which includes straightening everything up when I am between projects. This seems to help me set the pace for what’s coming next.

6. Looking over the past year, what has been the best moment for you in your writing career?
In February, I participated in a play writing festival and wrote a play which appeared on stage. That was a thrill seeing how the audience reacted to the work. It was so immediate to hear the laughs, gasps, etc. I loved it! It was one of the scariest and most thrilling things I’ve ever done.

7. What do you enjoy doing with your spare time, your non-writing time?
I am an avid spin cyclist. I go to the gym nearly every day of the week. Working out helps me create things and also it’s my social time with friends I’ve been working out with for – ahem – over a decade.

I love travelling! That’s my main passion! I have a map on the wall and I write checkmarks over all the places I’ve been. I want to see as much of the world as I can! I’ve been to a lot of great places, but there’s still a lot more to see!

And finally, I enjoy a girl’s night out once a week. That’s always fun!

8. What are you working on now? Can you tell us a little about it?
I have several projects in the mix. One is a 25 novella series for eXtasy books about my characters from my earlier sci-fi trilogy called Beyond 2012. This new series is called The Venusians and will document the migration of these sexy creatures across the galaxy as they escape from Venus and begin colonizing other parts of the solar system.

9. What kind of comfort food do you like best?
Chocolate and coffee! I love a good bowl of noodles too!

10. I noticed you write across different genres. Which do you enjoy the most?
Wow! That’s a tough question! It all depends on what mood I’m in. I think I will write more horror in the future and I would have told you horror would be my favorite, but science fiction has probably emerged as my current favorite. I really enjoy the fact that as long as the story makes some logical sense in the world I create that I can pretty much do what I want in sci-fi. It’s so liberating! I am really excited about my forthcoming series on the Venusians…so stay tuned for that and others.

Charles Daughtry goes to a society party to do business on behalf of his father when he is bewitched by the lovely and married mistress of the house, Claire Davies. The two engage in a lascivious episode in an upstairs room during the party. Charles narrowly escapes discovery, but vows to rekindle the flames of passion, regardless of the cost. After some unfortunate events leave Charles shaken, he confesses his sins to a Bishop. Charles hopes for absolution. Will he find forgiveness from the spiritual leader or crucifixion at the end of a hangman's noose?

 EXCERPT

He unlaced the bodice, pressing it open until her bare chest toppled out before him. "My God, you are a sight."

She giggled shyly. "You are too kind."

"No kindness here, milady, only appreciation." Charles studied her every line and feature, burning it into his mind where he hoped it would stay forever. All the while his hardness increased. He lowered his breeches to the floor, unbuttoned the first few buttons.

His lover's delicate fingers found their way to his chest. Claire tugged at his sleeves until his shirt hit the floor, landing on top of her garments. She kissed his shoulders, his neck, his chest. Each proclamation made him more eager for her. She traced her fingers over the tip of him and instinctively tasted his wetness. "Mmm. Quite good."

"Am I?" Charles slid his torso down hers and spread her legs wide, dipping his tongue inside her sweet center. With wet mouth, he lifted his head. "You're quite tasty yourself."

For someone who never had a lover before, Claire arched her back and moaned out like no other Charles had ever had.

The sight of this made him wild with passion. Without her express permission, he rushed over her, guiding himself into her center and forced himself to the deepest parts without incident.

"Agh," she moaned.

He pulled out and checked for blood. There wasn't any, which surprised him. If she was a virgin like she said she was, shouldn't she have been in pain, shouldn't there have been blood? He rested the tip of his member just inside her folds. "Are you okay?"

"Yes, I want more." She reached her hand around his neck, kissing him and sending her tongue dancing inside his mouth.

And more he gave her. Again and again he thrust until he unloaded himself inside her. The pair crumpled together in a sweaty heap of lust.

At that moment, there was a loud knock at their door and a familiar voice of William Davies spoke. "Darling? Are you in there?"

Willing and Able, by Jude and Jenna

Willing and Able
Co-authored with Jenna Byrnes
ISBN: 978-1-926965-83-3
Publisher: BWLPP Spice
Genre: Erotica, gay, action/adventure

Colt Willing never expected to be a key player in a drug-running operation. Before he can get out, he's determined to release the hold the organization has on Jonathan, the man he's grown to love. Jonathan has ties that bind him to drug-lord Nigel Caprice, and breaking the bonds may prove too difficult for Willing to tackle alone.

Detective D.J. Able is determined to bring Caprice to his knees. Backed by his partner, Bryan Stokes, Able and his team are out for justice, and retribution for the loss of one of their own. When push comes to shove, Able discovers that even the best laid plans sometimes go astray, and the men end up in a fight for their very lives.

"Willing is a great story that sucked me in, held me tight and wouldn't let me go. The action is fast and the characters interesting. The sex is hot and passionate. This story was an adventure until the end. As for Able’s story, the action was just as fast and exciting. The plot thickens and stakes for all the characters are higher. . .entertaining, sexy, and full of hot cops! It’s was seriously good and a story I didn’t want to put down. " ~ Romance Reader, Seriously Reviewed.

"These are two awesome writers that have combined their skills together. Colt Willing is a man bent on protecting those he loves, no matter what side of the law they are on. But what side of the law is Colt on? Ms. Jenna's story is very riveting. The drama builds with each paragraph you read. Wanting to know what happens will drive you to the end. Jude's story ties to Jenna's. These two authors play very well together. Able is the story of Willing's ex-partner Detective D.J. Able. With a fallen officer and the clock ticking, how does one man try to make it all balance? Able is a determined man and you will see just how determined he is. . .Jude keeps the momentum rolling in this story. You will see how all sides of the law collide and how things get done. I commend these ladies for a job well done. The stories complimented each other very well." ~ Cecile, Night Owl Reviews, Reviewer's Top Pick

Welcome Sara York

I'd like you all to welcome the amazing Sara York, a new to Total E-Bound author, but one who's definitely on her way. Let's find out the glamorous aspects of Sara's life and what advice she'd offer newbie authors...and more

1. How long have you been writing? What inspired you to pick the pen up one day and create characters that capture the imagination?
I love writing but I didn’t know how to get a book on the page when I first started. A few years back my sister was going to write a book while she lived in the Bahamas on a boat. I couldn’t let her beat me to the punch on writing a book. While she was away I wrote and wrote and wrote. The book sucked, but it was the beginning of my writing life.

2.  What influenced you to get published? How long did it take? Can you tell us the name of your first published work?
My first book published was Coiled Revenge, which is now out of print. I’ve changed the name to Murder Stalks and you can pick it up at Amazon or Smashwords. (BTW - It’s under a different author name so don’t freak out)

3. What genre would you like to try that you haven’t yet?
I think I’ve tried almost all genres. I’m really happy writing what I write.

4.  Most people envision an author’s life as being really glamorous. What’s your take on this? Can you tell us something unglamorous you did within the last week or so?
My dog is very sick and I’m the one that gets to clean up his mess. Very unglamorous

5. Plotter or pantzer?
I’m both. Some books I plot out fully. Other books I write by the seat of my pants. Both methods work for me.

6.  What do you do when you’re suffering writers block?
When writes block hits it’s usually because I’ve done something wrong. I take a step back and think about my story. Then I go delete about 100 to 1000 words and start flowing again.

7.  What would you like to share with new writers? Any suggestions or advice?
Keep writing and if you think your book is ready for publication, edit it again.

8. If you could be a character in any of your books who would it be and why?
Hmm, maybe Mandy in Matt and Tom Take a lover, or Anna in Three is Just Right. Why? Both Mandy and Anna have fun with two hot men who fall madly in love with them.

9. Looking over the past year, what has been the best moment for you in your writing career?
When I received contracts with Total E-Bound for Surprise Sleep Over and Working it Out about a month apart.

10.  If you could choose one vice, what would it be and why?
I would want to be a whiskey drinker. Whiskey is sexy. You get respect in a bar when you order a whiskey straight up.

11.  When you wake up in the morning, what celebrity do you most resemble?
Julia Roberts, or maybe Julia Childs. It’s rather hazy until I get my first cup of coffee.

12.  What are you working on now? Can you tell us a little about it?
I’m finishing off the second story in the Sexcapad of Lanie Watson. I’m also working on a Cougar Ménage story and a suspense book that I’m publishing as a serial book on Kindle called Red Skhye in Morning.

Excerpt

Damien and Christopher's hotel room was larger than hers. They'd opted for a suite. She appreciated the art and the colors, but knew Blue Waters Resort had this resort hands down.

She spun around, catching both men staring at her. "So, you boys do this often?"

"By do this often do you mean two guys and one girl?” Christopher asked.

She nodded her head.

“Nope," Christopher said.

"Not before today." Damien's salacious smile turned her on.

She moved around the room, running her hand over the bedspread and dresser. Appreciating the decorators theme, but pleased the Blue Waters suits were nicer. "I'm a little confused at how you both worked together to get me then."

"You really are the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. You're almond shaped eyes and dark blond hair give you a totally exotic look. You’ve got great hips and real boobs. I've met tons of women, women who the world calls beautiful and I've never met your match," Damien said.

Lanie knew she was blushing, her face was too hot for her not to be. "But that doesn't explain how this happened."

"Nothing has happened yet," Christopher said.

"No, it hasn't. But I know something is going to happen soon." Lanie's pussy clenched. She wanted them to touch her everywhere. It was crazy to be alone in the room with two men who were strangers, but she wanted this more than anything else she’d ever wanted before.

“I like you and Damien likes you. So instead of fighting we’re going to share,” Christopher said.
Damien pulled his shirt off and the effect was as devastating as she'd thought it would be. Her breath caught and her heart stalled. Her pussy gushed and her tongue tensed at the thought of sliding her mouth over his pecks and six-pack abs.

Christopher tugged at the side of his bathing suit, revealing a strip of pubic hair that trailed from his belly button lower. The tip of his cock showed at the top of his suit. Lanie licked her lips, imagining how wonderful it would be to slid her mouth over his cock and eat him all the way. Lanie moved to him and slid his bathing suit the rest of the way off. His dick sprang free, slapping against the back of her hand.

Welcome Jenna Byrnes

This week I'm very pleased to welcome my co-author and good friend, Jenna Byrnes to my blog. Jenna is special people and I hope you give her a warm welcome.

1.  How long have you been writing? What inspired you to pick the pen up one day and create characters that capture the imagination?

I started writing when I was about ten, because I loved to read and loved to make up stories. Those first scribblings were really awful, but I'm sure they helped hone my skills as far as who I am today. I began writing seriously about twenty years ago and five years ago actually got my first stories published.

2.  What genre would you like to try that you haven’t yet?

I've been tempted to try young adult (under another name, of course!) There just aren’t enough hours in a day.

3.  Most people envision an author’s life as being really glamorous. What’s your take on this? Can you tell us something unglamorous you did within the last week or so?

Scrubbing toilets? Waxing my eyebrows? Authors are regular people, we hop up in the air and put our pants on both legs at the same time just like everybody else.

4.  Plotter or pantzer?

Speaking of pants, I'd have to say pantzer. I try to plot but usually end up flying by the seat of my you-know-whats. Except when I co-author with Jude- plotting is a must when writing together. She only slaps me occasionally when I don't stick to the plan!

5.  What do you do when you’re suffering writers block?

Whine and moan to whoever will listen *cough* Jude *cough*  then go work on my website or do some other kind of busy work. The writing eventually comes back. Not always as quickly as I hope, and not always the story I had in mind. But it eventually works out.

6.  What would you like to share with new writers? Any suggestions or advice?

Be patient. Nothing happens quickly in this business. Learn the rules of the publishing house you're submitting to. Follow those rules to the T. Polish, polish, polish. Have someone else read your book before sending it in. When you've shined and polished that first book and sent it off, write another one. Never stop writing. The best way to sell a book is to write another one. Promotion is important, but there are too many things online that can become a time suck. Make sure you allow plenty of time for writing.

7.  What do you enjoy doing with your spare time, your non-writing time?

I wish I could say taking long walks or another form of exercise, but I'm a classic couch potato. I love watching all types of movies and crime drama TV shows.

8.  If you found that, for one reason or another, you couldn’t write anymore, what would you like to do instead?

Something in the business. Publish, edit, review. . .anything to be around books and writers.

9.  What kind of comfort food do you like best?

Italian food comes to mind. Pizza, pasta, lasagna—anything cheesy, gooey, and yummy! Followed by something chocolate, of course.

10.  What do you hope to achieve in life and when will you know that you have been a success?

I have some pretty wonderful kids and a great husband, plus a nice collection of books with my name in the author spot. I'm very comfortable with what I've achieved and definitely consider myself a success!

Chapter One

It wasn't the best sex he'd ever had, but it was decent. Any sex is good sex, his friends would say, and Jeff Roberts tended to agree. But lately, something was different. He rolled away from his fiancée, pretending to be asleep.
When he heard her steady, rhythmic breathing, he rolled back over. Lana Birdwell looked peaceful in slumber, and much quieter than she ever was when she was awake. Long, blond curls framed her face, giving her a deceivingly angelic appearance. He bit back a chuckle at the thought—no one who knew Lana would ever confuse her with an angel.
A 'bubbly personality' was how her father described her, and that was putting it mildly in Jeff's estimation. She was an outgoing, opinionated girl who liked to hear her own voice. Her slight stature might indicate frailty or shyness, but he knew she was tough as nails—a real saleswoman without a shy bone in her body.
But what a body, he thought, glancing at her round, perfectly formed breasts. They sat high atop her slender torso, which also sported bikini-worthy abs. Her legs were long and shapely, converging at a neatly trimmed apex of soft blond hair. Jeff looked at the V-shaped patch of fuzz and wondered why the sight didn't arouse him as much as it used to.
With a flick of his wrist, he tossed the sheet and covered her body. Lana sighed and snuggled into her pillow without waking. Jeff rolled over and tugged the sheet up to his neck, willing sleep to overtake him.
"Rise and shine," Lana murmured in his ear, planting a kiss on his temple.
Jeff opened his eyes, unsure of when he actually fell asleep. The last time he noticed the clock it was three a.m. He'd tossed and turned half the night, and now felt like hell. "Ugh," he grunted.
"Didn't sleep well?" She stood, fastening a large earring on her left lobe. "Seemed like you were up a lot."
"Yeah." He threw one arm across his forehead.
She went to the dresser and picked up her other earring. Looking in the bureau mirror, she put the hoop on and glanced at him. "You always stress out about month's end. Running all the paperwork, making sure everything balances—which it always does, by the way. I don't know why you worry so much."
He started to say it wasn't month's end bothering him, but then she'd want to know what was. Jeff wasn't sure he could answer that question, so it was better to let her believe it was work. "Yeah," he answered noncommittally.
Lana double-checked her appearance in the mirror one last time before turning to face him. "I've got to go. I have a seven-thirty appointment to go over some real estate listings, and I want to pick up coffee and rolls first."
"See you later." He waved one hand in the air, and she grabbed it and squeezed.
"You bet you will. Want a bearclaw? I can leave it on your desk."
"Sure." Jeff tried to muster enthusiasm he didn't feel.

Jenna's Bio:  Jenna Byrnes could use more cabinet space and more hours in a day. She’d fill the kitchen with gadgets her husband purchases off TV and let him cook for her to his heart’s content. She’d breeze through the days adding hours of sleep, and more time for writing the hot, erotic romance she loves to read.

Jenna thinks everyone deserves a happy ending, and loves to provide as many of those as possible to her gay, lesbian and hetero characters. Her favorite quote, from a pro-gay billboard, is “Be careful who you hate. It may be someone you love.”
